How to Sow

  • Fill pots or cell trays with compost and press down to firm the soil
  • Take a pinch of seeds and sprinkle into the pot or tray, pat down with 0.5cm of compost, and water
  • Aubergine seeds have a good germination rate, so only sow a few more seeds than the amount of plants you want

Plant Care

  • If starting the plants in a greenhouse, be sure to bring them inside during any cold spells
  • They love warm & sunny conditions, so only plant outside once large enough, and once conditions are warmer
  • Once the plant is mature, make sure there is only 2 main vertical stems. Remove any side shoots to ensure for a more productive plant!

AllotMe’s Tips

  • Mature aubergine plants tend to get top heavy so remeber to stake them for added support
  • Once 5 or 6 fruits have started to form, you can pinch off any additional flowers to allow the plant's energy to go into producing decent fruit!
