How to Sow
- Dig a flat-bottomed trench 5cm deep and 15cm wide
- Sow seeds in three rows along the trench, spacing 5-7cm apart
- Cover with soil and water well
- Set up pea sticks or netting for the tendrils to grab onto immediately
- Protect from mice and pigeons with netting or fleece
Plant Care
- Provide support from the start — peas climb by tendrils and need something to grip
- Water well once flowers appear and during dry spells
- Don't overfeed — peas fix their own nitrogen
- Pick regularly to keep plants producing
- Watch for pea moth — cover with fine mesh from when flowers open
